Partnership with the U.S. Army

Army research partners are vital to the ISN Mission. They collaborate on basic and applied research, provide guidance on the Soldier relevancy of ISN projects, and participate in transitioning (i.e., technological maturation and scale-up of the outcomes of ISN basic research).

The ISN is sponsored through the U.S. Army Research Laboratory's Army Research Office in Durham, North Carolina. More than just a sponsor, the U.S. Army is an important partner in solving the problems of the Soldier. While the ISN's nanotechnology approach is new, scientists at the Army have been working to address Soldiers' challenges—like excess weight and insufficient ballistic protection—for decades.
